U’khand promoting generic medicines: Om Prakash

The chief secretary (CS) of Uttarakhand Om Prakash has said that the state administration is emphasising on the use of generic medicines. He said that the chief medical officers (CMO) in the districts have been directed to recommend generic medicines to the patients. The CS attended a meeting of the chief secretaries of all the states via a video conferencing on Wednesday on Pragati Portal. The meeting was on Pradhan Mantri Jan Aaushadhi Kendra and the Amritsar- Kolkata industrial corridors and was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In the meeting Om Prakash said that all the CMOs and the district coordinators have been directed to make people aware about the generic medicines and the state government is providing free medicines to the patients in the government hospitals of the state. On the Amritsar- Kolkata industrial corridor, the CS of Uttarakhand said that the state government has earmarked 1002.15 acres of land at Khurpia in Udham Singh Nagar district for setting up an integrated manufacturing cluster. He added that the work on environmental clearance for the cluster is at present going on.
