Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the State government is fully committed to providing a strong platform for talent in sports and promoting a vibrant sports culture. He said this during a Bal Samvad programme organised through video conference with students from various schools in the Champawat district.
The objective of the programme was to gather information on the progress of sports activities in schools and to discuss the needs and suggestions of the young athletes. The CM interacted with Gaurav from Government Inter College, Champawat, Preeti from GIC Pati, Kanchan from GIC Tanakpur, Sagar from GIC Chaumel and Monica from GIC Champawat to learn about their sports facilities, resources and training.
During the programme, the Dhami emphasised the importance of giving equal weight to sports alongside academic studies. He said that Uttarakhand is not only known as Devbhoomi but is also emerging as Khelbhoomi. He referred to the youth as the “charioteers of Amrit Kal” and highlighted the significance of discipline, time management and hard work.
The CM said that the State government’s commitment to providing a robust platform for sports talent and fostering a sports culture. He described the State’s sports policy and initiatives such as the Mukhyamantri Udyaman Khiladi Yojana as vital steps toward the overall development of youth.
Additionally, the students expressed their gratitude to the CM, stating that they are regularly benefiting from the Mukhyamantri Udyaman Khiladi Protsahan Yojana, which is aiding in the enhancement of their sports skills.
