U’khand developed world class sports infrastructure for 38th National Games: CM

 Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that after the successful organisation of the 38th National Games, Uttarakhand is now being counted among the States which have a world class sports infrastructure. He was addressing the valedictory ceremony of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav-2025 at the old multipurpose hall in Parade Ground here on Thursday. 

He said that the players from the State won 103 medals in the 38th National Games which is a golden chapter in the history of the State. The CM said that the State government has implemented a Sports Legacy plan under which 23 sports academies will be set up in eight prominent cities of the State. He said that in these academies 920 world class athletes and 1,000 other players will be able to get world class training facilities every year. 

The CM said that work at a fast pace is being done in setting up the first sports university of the State in Haldwani and Women Sports College in Lohaghat.  Under the new Sports Policy out of turn government jobs are being provided to the medal winners at national and international levels. The government is trying to encourage young players with the help of Mukhyamantri Khel Vikas Nidhi, Mukhyamantri Khiladi Protsahan Yojana, Mukhyamantri Udaiman Khiladi Yojana and Khel Kit Yojana. 

Paying tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his anniversary, the CM said that he taught that politics is not a medium to gain power but to serve the nation.

He said that PM Narendra Modi attended the closing ceremony of Sansad Khel Mahotsav in a virtual mode which has helped encourage players. The festival is a medium to spread the message of Fit India, Sports India and Strong India. The local and traditional sports are being revived with the help of the festival, he said.  

The programme was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, Lok Sabha MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, special principal secretary, Sports Amit Sinha and others.
