U’khand Cong adopts Udaipur declaration for implementation

50 % seats in organisational bodies to be reserved for youths

After two days of brainstorming and introspection in Dehradun, the Uttarakhand Congress has adopted the Udaipur declaration of Congress party for implementation in the State. As per the declaration the party has decided to increase representation of the youth in the organisation. Interacting with the media at the headquarters of Uttarakhand Congress, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that the party has decided to reserve 50 per cent of all positions in all committees for the leaders who are less than 50 years old. He added that no leader would hold any position for more than five years. The PCC president informed that the party has decided to set up Mandal committees in the district which will be placed between the block and booth committees. At present the party structure is three tiered in the districts with booth, block and district committees. Mahara said that the Congressmen raised apprehension in the workshop in the manner the government is moving ahead on Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He said that apart from religious minorities, Uttarakhand is home of tribes like Buksa, Tharu and others and these tribes have different social customs for marriage and costumes. They also have their own system of land ownership. Mahara said that the government has done no research on the subject and is moving in haste for the sake of seeking popularity. Speaking on the occasion the leader of opposition (LoP) Yashpal Arya said that a roadmap for the party has been prepared and everyone would move forward on it. He said that a war between the ideologies of Gandhi and Godse is at present going on in the country. Arya said that  the Congress leaders and workers would take out foot marchers of 75 km in the state from August  8 to 15 and the leaders would hold night stays at the homes of poor and Dalits.
