U’khand 25: Silver Jubilee Week programmes continue

As part of the silver jubilee week celebration to mark 25 years of Uttarakhand’s statehood, cultural programmes, seminars and departmental exhibitions were held at Ramlila Maidan on Tuesday.
A number of cultural groups associated with the Information and Public Relations department, Uttarkashi, like Jagadei Kala Manch and Someshwar Kala Sangam Manch presented Uttarakhand’s traditional folk culture. Girls from various schools also presented performances.
As part of the Ganga Utsav programme, a water sports competition was organised at Joshiada Reservoir. Participants rowed boats and spread the message of cleanliness of Ganga and water conservation.
At the seminars organised at Ramlila Ground by Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Dairy and AYUSH departments, experts discussed rural development and self-reliance. Yoga demonstrations were presented by the AYUSH department and a street play on foeticide and child marriage was presented by the Child Development department. At the employment fair, youths were informed about the government and private sector employment opportunities.
Further, agriculture and horticulture experts informed farmers about the latest agricultural techniques on apple farming, beekeeping, queen bee management, soil testing, modern agricultural equipment and the irrigation schemes rolled out by the Centre.
