The managing director of UJVN Limited, Sandeep Singhal was presented the Uttarakhand Ratna Shri award for his noteworthy contributions in the power sector by the International Goodwill Society of India. Under his leadership the UJVNL has consistently set records in power generation and also completed four hydro electricity projects. These projects include the 120 MW Vyasi project on the Yamuna in Dehradun district and Suringad project in Pithoragarh district inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Further, the Kali Ganga I and Kali Ganga II small hydro power projects were also completed and power is being generated from these projects. The corporation is also going to start work in the near future on four new projects which include the 300 MW Lakhwad multipurpose project which has been declared a national project. This project will not only generate electricity for Uttarakhand but also supply water to five other States. After receiving the award, Singhal was congratulated by the officers and employees of the corporation.
