The body of a 59-year-old man was found inside a water tank in the Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan (UJS) complex at Dilaram Chowk. The deceased has been identified as Pushkar Singh Negi who was one of the workers of UJS and used to live on the premises.

The tank is reportedly six metres deep and was filled with about two lakh litres of water. The body was discovered by other workers when they arrived for their work shift on Thursday morning. The general manager (GM) of UJS, Neelima Garg informed that the deceased used to live on the premises and was apparently sick and suffering from depression too.

Responding to speculations whether the deceased Negi committed suicide or it was just an accident, Garg said, “We cannot say for sure how he fell into the tank because we do not know much yet. We know that he was sick and depressed. He was not even allotted any duties at the place where he was found dead at that time.

The police did the Panchnama and took the body for post mortem on Thursday. It appeared as if he fell into the tank and drowned. Nothing can be said for sure yet. The police are investigating the matter.”
