UJS reports 30,888 water-related issue complaints

MANSI BHAMBRI/Dehradun
Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan (UJS) has reported a total of 30,888 complaints from April 1 to December 3 via the toll-free number designated for residents throughout the State to report issues related to water supply. The UJS secretary (Appraisal) Maneesh Semwal said this.
The toll-free numbers, 18001804100 and 1916, are accessible for any complaints or support. Residents have been reaching out to these numbers to file their complaints, which UJS then addresses.
Semwal informed that the toll-free number allows individuals throughout the State to report any water supply issues they encounter. From April 1 to December 3 this year, the UJS reported a total of 30,888 complaints submitted via this toll-free number. Semwal said that of these complaints, 29,555 have already been addressed. He assured that the remaining complaints are currently being processed and will be resolved shortly.
“Of the 30,888 registered complaints, the highest number—22,458—comes from residents reporting issues in water supply, while only 66 minimum complaints, according to UJS data, involve broken sewer chambers. There are many other complaints reported by residents, including pipeline leaks, sewer blockages or overflows, areas without water and low water pressure,” stated Semwal. Regarding the complaint rectification process, he informed that residents registered any water supply-related complaints through a toll-free number at the call centre. The call centre then forwards these complaints to the relevant engineers, who promptly begin addressing the issues. Subsequently, the call centre inquires about the status of the rectifications from the engineers or they are informed about the status of complaints to the call centres.
As a result, the centres gather feedback from customers regarding the rectification of complaints. Additionally, a message used to be sent to the customers about the status of complaint rectification to the customers. He emphasised that complaints are typically resolved within three days. However, some issues may take longer to address due to delays related to permits, such as road cutting. Despite this, UJS is committed to maintaining continuous service; for instances, where complaints take longer to resolve, they have tankers available to assist during that period. Semwal said that senior officials at UJS actively monitor the status of the complaints to ensure they are addressed in a timely manner. He also encouraged residents across the State to reach out for any assistance related to water supply or register their complaints through the provided toll-free number.
