Uttarakhand is expecting its tableau to be the centre of attraction in the Republic Day parade at Rajpath this year. The state tableau’s nodal officer KS Chauhan said that the state’s entry had passed through a long process to secure a place in the final selection. Out of the 29 proposals, Uttarakhand’s tableau is among the tableaux of 12 states selected for the Republic Day parade. However, before reaching this stage, the meetings began in September last year.
There were three meetings with the expert committee apart from meetings for design selection, model selection and presentation for the music selection. A total of 16 artistes from Champawat, Almora and Pithoragarh will display aspects of Uttarakhand’s folk culture along with the tableau which will display Badrinath temple, Valley of Flowers, all weather road, Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara, Dobra-Chanthi bridge and the Tehri dam. Chauhan said that since the creation of Uttarakhand, the state’s tableau has been part of the Republic Day parade 13 times.
