U-Hub & venture fund scheme to boost start-up ecosystem in Uttarakhand: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that U-Hub set up by the State government and a venture fund of Rs 200 crore will give a new impetus to start-ups in Uttarakhand.  He was addressing the 120th annual session of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi on Thursday. 

The CM said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Uttarakhand government is working consistently to promote investment in the State. Dhami said that in the Global Investors Summit organised in 2023, investment proposals worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore were inked and projects worth Rs one lakh crore have been grounded so far.

 He said that the State has implemented a ‘single window system’ to make the process of licensing of industry easy. The State government has brought more than 30 policies including the industrial policy, logistics policy, start-up policy and MSME policy to make the investment ecosystem industry friendly. The CM averred that the State government has implemented mega industrial policy to encourage entrepreneurship in the construction sector.  A world class U-Hub at a cost of Rs 60 crore is being established to provide an incubation facility for stary-ups. The State government has set up UK-SPICE, an investment promotion agency and will provide services of ‘ Nivesh Mitra’ to the investors. 

The CM said that the State government has set up Aroma Park in Kashipur, Plastic Park in Sitarganj, Electronics Manufacturing cluster in Kashipur and a Multimodel Logistics park in Pantnagar. Plug and play facility is being provided to entrepreneurs by SIIDCUL in Rudrapur, Selaqui and Haridwar and a smart industrial township is being set up on more than 1,000 acres of land in Kichha in Udham Singh Nagar  district. The State government will provide rent based accommodation facilities to industrial workers. Under the House of Himalayas brand, the State government has succeeded in bringing all the organic products of the State under one umbrella. The women self-help groups of the State make a unique place for them in the global market.

“Our government is working on the concept of minimum government, maximum governance. Under the Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana more than 10,000 entrepreneurs have benefited. More than 260 services in the State are completely online now which has helped in ensuring transparency in the works,’’ he said.

Dhami averred that as a result of all these efforts, Uttarakhand has been ranked among ‘achievers’ category in the ease of doing business and leaders in the start-up rankings. “Our entrepreneurs are directly benefiting from our strictness and transparency, and they no longer face unnecessary hurdles in project approvals, land allotments, industrial licenses, or other business activities,’’ he added.
