Two more dengue cases reported in Dehradun

Two new cases of dengue were reported in the Dehradun district at the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and Himalayan Hospital on Tuesday. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, said that on Tuesday, two cases tested positive, with one hospitalised for treatment. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed dengue cases (ELISA-positive) in the district to 78, comprising 45 cases reported in Dehradun and 33 cases from other districts or States.

Dr Sharma further informed that there are currently 10 patients are active of which six are hospitalised at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, one at Graphic Era Hospital, one at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital, one at Himalayan Hospital and one at home. On Tuesday alone, 56 dengue samples were collected, raising the cumulative total to 5,709 samples collected so far, he said.

Additionally, on Tuesday, ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activists) and Health department volunteers conducted 19,091 house surveys to check for mosquito larvae. Among these, 41 houses tested positive for larvae. The health department has completed a total of 5,72,254 house surveys, with 1,696 of those showing positive results. Further, on Tuesday, ASHA workers and volunteers inspected 1,35,003 containers, of which 53 were found to contain larvae. To date, they have surveyed 35,46,071 containers, resulting in 2,119 testing positive.
