The police nabbed two men with over nine kilogrammes of ganja that they were planning to sell to students and others in Rishikesh. The officials said that the police have been conducting regular drives against the supply of illegal drugs, especially in places visited mostly by tourists and pilgrims during the summer season. They said that the police received confidential information on Saturday about two people arriving in Rishikesh with contraband. Considering this, the police started manual surveillance and nabbed two men Ashok Kumar and Rahul at the ISBT in Rishikesh with 9.3 kilogrammes of ganja late on Saturday. The officials informed that Kumar and Rahul are natives of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and were in possession of 4.5 kilogrammes and 4.8 kilogrammes of ganja respectively when the police arrested them from the ISBT. The police said that the accused revealed during the initial inquiry that they had bought ganja from Meerut at cheaper rates to sell it to students and other drug addicts at higher prices in the Rishikesh area. The police have registered a case against them in Rishikesh Kotwali under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police are looking into their criminal history and are investigating to whom these accused were planning to deliver the cannabis. They will soon be presented before the court, the officials said.
