Two inter-college teachers suspended for allegedly molesting students

The chief education officer (CEO) of Pauri district has suspended two teachers of Janata Inter college Surkhet in Chaubattakhal Tehsil for allegedly molesting girl students during an NSS camp. The two teachers were allegedly drunk when they entered the room of the girl students at the NSS camp. The suspended teachers have been attached to the office of the block education officer at Ekeshwar. 

The district’s CEO Anand Bharadwaj told this correspondent that on the recommendation of the management committee of inter college Hindi lecturer Satish Chandra Shah and physics lecturer Ramindra Bhandari have been suspended. According to the statement of the management committee, an NSS camp was held at the inter college during March 1-7. During the NSS camp, these two teachers allegedly entered the room of the girls while drunk and reportedly molested them on March 4. The management committee of the institution took the decision to suspend the teachers on March 15 and the manager of the institution had then sent the decision to the department for approval. Bharadwaj said that the case was inquired and statements of the girls were taken before granting approval to the recommendation for suspension. The two suspended teachers have been attached to the BEO office in Ekeshwar where they are required to mark their presence in the office daily. The CEO further said that after full inquiry in the case, charges may be framed and further action may be taken against the two suspended teachers.

He said that the institution management committee probably has registered a case against the teachers, but he has not received any authentic letter regarding this so far. A report will definitely be lodged, he added.
