The two-day MP (Saansad) Sports Festival concluded in Dehradun on Sunday, with Tehri Garhwal Lok Sabha MP Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah in attendance. Youth, players, coaches and sports enthusiasts from across the district participated enthusiastically in this event.
While addressing the participants, the MP stated, “Sports festivals like these play a vital role in spreading the spirit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Khelo India, Fit India’ campaign to the masses. Sports are not just about competition; they embody a way of life linked to discipline, unity, self-confidence and nationalism.”
She emphasised that sports provide the younger generation with a pathway to excellence, leadership, teamwork and positive thinking. “This festival is dedicated to ensuring that our youth become healthy, capable, and active participants in nation-building,” she added.
Shah distributed mementos to the winners and certificates to all participants. She expressed her gratitude to the Sports department and others whose cooperation made this programme possible. She said, “The energy, talent and sporting spirit of the youth in the Tehri Garhwal parliamentary constituency are remarkable. We will continue our efforts to promote sports through programmes like this in the future.”
Rajpur MLA Khajan Das praised the ” The MP Sports Festival,” stating that such events inspire the younger generation to take up sports and contribute to building a healthy and strong society.
