Thursday, 18 August 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

To express its opposition to the consistent price rise and initiate a public dialogue on it, the Congress party has started ‘Mehangai Par Charcha’ programmes from Wednesday. In the week-long programme, the Uttarakhand Congress would hold discussions on price rise at district, Mahanagar and Block levels in the State. These programmes are being organised on the call given by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

The vice president (Organisation) of Uttarakhand Congress, Mathura Dutt Joshi said that the Congress party would reach out to the general public and expose the anti people policies of the Narendra Modi government in these programmes. He said that discussions on increasing unemployment and spiralling prices of general commodities would be held in the Mehangai Par Charcha programmes. He said that the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has given a call to all Congress members to hold these programmes in Chaupals and other places. He said that the AICC would also organise programmes in different parts of the country on the price rise, unemployment and anti people policies of the Modi government. The central leadership of Congress party has decided to hold a mega rally ‘Mehangai Par Halla Bol’ at Ramlila Ground in New Delhi on August 28.  In this rally all the senior leaders of Uttarakhand Congress including the MLAs, former MLAs, the candidates of the party in the assembly elections, former Members of Parliament, district and Mahanagar presidents, heads of frontal organisations, presidents and office bearers of the different cells and party workers would participate.

Joshi said that the prices have become out of control during the regime of the BJP and the ever increasing prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas have made the life of the general public miserable. He said that the BJP-led Union government and the State governments have failed miserably in controlling ever rising prices.
