The State Tourism and Culture minister, Saptal Maharaj said that Triyuginarayan in Rudraprayag district might be declared as a ‘Vedic Tourism Village’. The temple is revered as the mythological site where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married with Lord Vishnu-acting as Parvati’s brother-having officiated the ceremony. The temple- dedicated to Lord Vishnu- is also known for the Akhand Dhuni which is believed to have been burning since the divine wedding.
Maharaj said that aside from the spiritual/mythological significance, the place is important from historical perspectives. It was important, too, from the tourism point of view, given its celestial beauty, he added. Also, he mentioned the fact that many couples choose this place for their marriage, seeking divine blessing.
The minister said this while chairing a review meeting of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board at Garhi Cantt here on Monday.
