Tributes paid to CDS general Bipin Rawat on death anniv

Glowing tributes were paid to the first chief of defence staff (CDS) late general Bipin Rawat on his fourth death anniversary on Monday. In a programme organised at Kanak Chowk in Dehradun, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to general Rawat, by placing a wreath at his statue.
Recalling general Rawat’s indomitable courage, leadership skills and supreme dedication to the nation, the CM described him as the pride of Uttarakhand and the country. He said that general Rawat’s life is an inspiring example of patriotism, discipline and dedication, which will always inspire future generations to serve the nation. The CM also reiterated the state government’s commitment to honour the martyrs.
A silence of two minutes was observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul on the occasion. Tributes to the late CDS were also paid by the public representatives, soldiers, ex-servicemen and general public.
Soldier Welfare minister Ganesh Joshi, Rajpur Road MLA Khajan Das and Dehradun Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor also attended the programme.
