In an attempt to woo the sugarcane farmers ahead of assembly elections the Uttarakhand government has effected an increase of Rs 29.50 in the purchase price of the sugarcane. Addressing media persons here on Monday, Cabinet Minister Yatishwaranand said the government would purchase the early variety of sugarcane at Rs 355 per quintal while the Common variety would be purchased at Rs 345 per quintal.
He said that the early variety consists of almost 96 per cent of total produce of Sugarcane in the state.
