Transport Dept issues guidelines to ensure smooth travel during festivals

In view of Deepawali and upcoming festivals, the Transport department has issued instructions to increase the number of vehicles and staff in Dehradun division from October 18 to 19 and from October 24 to 25 to prevent overloading and delays. This decision has been taken to ensure smooth passenger transport services during the festive season.

The regional transport officer of the Dehradun division (Administration) Sandeep Saini said that the department has instructed all transport depots to maintain cleanliness of buses and other vehicles and to pay special attention to the hilly routes, including Chakrata, New Tehri, Uttarkashi and others, by providing additional services. Additional buses will also be arranged for returning passengers after the festival to avoid congestion, he said.

He said that the officials concerned have been asked to operate buses in the Selaqui area during the festival period so that passengers have access to necessary services. All assistant transport officers have been directed to ensure that no driver operates a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The department has ordered the officials to ensure the proper implementation of these instructions carefully and submit the report regarding any change to the head office.
