Transport dept announces second phase of monetary aid programme

Tuesday 12, 2021 | PNS | Dehradun

Considering that many potential beneficiaries including drivers, conductors and cleaners engaged in public transportation have failed to receive the benefits of the monetary aid programme provided by the state government, the transport department has invited applications once again from October 12 to 31. The department had announced in August this year that the government will provide monetary aid of Rs 2,000 for the next six months to the public transport workers such as drivers, conductors and cleaners whose livelihood was affected due to the Covid-19 lockdown. The department invited the applications for the same from August 11 to September 5 and marked over one lakh eligible beneficiaries. The transport commissioner Deependra Kumar Chaudhary said in his order issued to all district magistrates and transport officers that since the department recently got to know that many potential beneficiaries could not apply in the first phase, the department has decided to invite such applications in the second phase of the programme which starts from Wednesday. He said that all regional transport officers (RTOs) and assistant regional transport officers (ARTOs) concerned will verify and approve the applications by November 7. If the applications are rejected by the officers concerned due to certain errors, the applicants will be given seven more days to rectify them. Those who have applied in phase one but got rejected can also make necessary changes to their application for reconsideration, stated the commissioner. He directed the officials concerned to make sure that the applicants do not repeat the mistakes that they did during the first phase to minimise the rejection rate of the applications.
