The Transport department has stepped up to curb the rising number of road accidents. Transport commissioner Rajeev Kumar Mehra visited Ramnagar on Friday and inspected various black spots across the region. During the visit, he identified eight accident-prone locations and directed officials to initiate immediate safety improvement work.
Mehra informed that the areas identified as black spots include Chhoi Tiraaha, Tanda Mallu, Reliance Petrol Pump, Peeru Madara, Natthupir Mazaar, Aam Danda, Lakhanpur Crossing, and Himmatpur. These locations have been found to have a higher likelihood of accidents. He further stated that a comprehensive roadmap will be prepared in collaboration with multiple departments to enhance safety measures and effectively reduce road mishaps.
ARTO Surendra Singh added that the department will also focus on public awareness to promote road safety. Special campaigns will be organised in various schools to educate students about traffic rules and road discipline. He mentioned that warning signboards will be installed at all accident-prone spots to alert drivers and encourage cautious driving.
The Transport department’s initiative is expected to play a significant role in reducing road accidents in the near future.
