Transfer money for uniform, bag & shoes into students account before Sept 30: minister

Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the officers of the department to ensure that the money for the uniform, bags and shoes are credited to the bank accounts of the students of the government schools before September 30.

The minister gave the order while chairing a meeting with the officers of the department at the State education directorate on Friday.

 The minister expressed his annoyance at the delay in the disbursal of the money of the uniform, bags and shoes in the accounts of the students. He directed that the money should be transferred before September 30. Rawat also expressed displeasure at laxity being done by some schools in purchase and distribution of textbooks. He directed that a committee composed of Principal, retired teachers, village Pradhan and president of the parents association should be constituted for purchase of books as per the needs of the students.

In the meeting the minister sought a report of the progress of the Samagra Shiksha project in the State.

He directed for timely expenditure of the budget for the project and said that the construction work of the PM Shri schools, cluster schools, ICT and virtual labs should be expedited.

The officers told the minister that the approval for 15 PM Shri schools in the State has been received from the union government and soon their construction will start. They further informed that virtual classes in 800 schools have started and the process is underway in 40 more schools.

 In the meeting the minister directed the officers to improve the rating of the State in the performance grading index (PGI). He said that a high level committee headed by director general education should be constituted for the purpose. Rawat said that the PGI ranking is an important parameter for the quality of education in the State.
