Traffic to remain diverted during Assembly session starting today

The Dehradun police issued a new traffic plan in view of the Assembly Session which will start from Monday. Several routes will remain diverted to ensure law and order and due to the probable protests and rallies on routes. According to the plan, the police will install barricades at Pragati Vihar, Shastrinagar, Haridwar Bypass, Defence Colony and Vidhan Sabha junction. All heavy vehicles will be diverted from Kargi Chowk and Doiwala towards Dudhli Road during the session. During heavy traffic pressure in the Rispana area, heavy vehicles might be temporarily stopped at Laltappad, Harrawala and Nayagaon. Vehicles going from Dehradun to Haridwar, Rishikesh, Tehri and Chamoli will be diverted towards Chhe Number Puliya via Nehru Colony and Fountain Chowk.

The police informed that the traffic passing through Dharampur Chowk to ISBT will be diverted from the old Bypass Chowki to ISBT via Mata Mandir Road. Traffic going towards Mussoorie from the Mohkampur route will be diverted to Jogiwala, Ring Road, Ladpur, Sahastradhara crossing and IT Park to reach Mussoorie. All protest rallies who have been granted permission will only proceed from Bannu School while their vehicles stay parked at the school premises. Vehicles arriving from Rispana towards the city will be diverted from the Haridwar Bypass towards Old Bypass Chowki when the rallies move towards the Pragati Vihar barrier.

The authorities can also divert other routes across the city as per the requirement. The police appealed to commuters to use two-wheelers and alternate routes till the assembly session ends to avoid traffic inconvenience.
