Traffic to be diverted on Saturday, police appeal for cooperation
With the upcoming Passing out Parade (POP) in Indian Military Academy and the visit of Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu in the convocation ceremony of a private institute at Premnagar, district police have devised traffic plan for smooth vehicle operations on Saturday.
As per the information provided by traffic police, during the visit of vice president Naidu, heavy vehicles will be prohibited on the VIP route. During his visit to the Petroleum University from IMA, all the vehicles going from Ballupur to Premnagar will be diverted from Rangadwala tri-junction towards Tea state. During the VIP movement, the vehicles going towards Bidholi will be stopped 100 metres before the main gate of UPES.
During the VIP movement from Airport to the city, all the vehicles coming from Thano Road will be stopped 100 metres before duty point at PNB junction at Bhaniyawala. The traffic on the contingency routes will be stopped occasionally during the VIP movement.
District police have appealed to the people to use two-wheelers instead of four wheelers during the IMA POP from 7 AM to 12:30 PM. Heavy vehicles will be diverted during the time period as well.
During the POP, no vehicle will be allowed towards IMA. It will be a complete zero zone. The heavy vehicles coming from Vikasnagar will be diverted from Harbartpur junction towards Dharmawala junction. The vehicle then can come via Shimla Bypass towards the city area. Other heavy vehicles will be diverted from Harbartpur, Shimala Bypass and Ballupur Chowk to GMS Road.
