Dehradun police have issued a traffic and parking plan in view of the heavy rush expected during Christmas, New Year, Winter Carnival and winter tourism. The plan has been prepared to ensure smooth traffic movement and safety of tourists and local residents in Dehradun, Mussoorie and Rishikesh.

According to the police, specific routes have been fixed for vehicles going to and returning from Mussoorie from Delhi, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Roorkee and Saharnpur. Several diversion points have been identified to reduce congestion on main roads. Vehicles will be guided through alternative routes during peak hours to avoid traffic jams.

In Mussoorie, one-way traffic will be implemented on busy roads, and vehicles will be diverted from crowded areas such as Library Chowk, Picture Palace and Kulri Bazaar whenever required. Entry of heavy vehicles towards Mussoorie will remain restricted during daytime. Traffic movement will also be monitored with the help of drones to manage the traffic effectively.

The police also identified several parking places in Mussoorie, including Picture Palace, Landour Road, Kempty taxi stand, Town Hall area and hotel parking spaces. Tourists have been advised to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas and not on roadsides.

For Dehradun, special arrangements have been made near Pacific Mall, Rajpur Road, Clock Tower and other busy areas. In case of traffic pressure, vehicles will be diverted through alternative routes. Parking facilities have been arranged at Parade Ground, Rangers Ground, MDDA parking near Clock Tower and other locations.

Dehradun police further announced that all heavy vehicles will be completely restricted on city roads from December 30 to January 1 during peak hours. Emergency service vehicles such as ambulances, police and fire service along with essential supply vehicles will not be stopped. Strict action will be taken against vehicles parked in no-parking zones.
