Top industrialists promise to invest generously in U’khand

Enthused by the potential of Uttarakhand and overwhelmed by the warm reception they received in the Global Investors Summit-2023, the top industrialists of the country appeared positive about investing in the State. In his address in the inaugural session of the summit, the director of Adani group, Pranav Adani said that Uttarakhand has become an important gateway for investment.

The group which already has its foothold in the State in the ambitious city gas distribution project and cement plants in the State has made up a plan to expand its business. Adani said that a new Rs 300 crore plant will be set up in Roorkee while a Rs 1,400 crore grinding unit of four million tonne capacity will be set up in the State. These ventures will create 6,000 employment opportunities. He added that the group is planning to develop an aero city near Pantnagar. 

The chairman and the managing director of Jindal group Sajjan Jindal said that the company will set up two power plants of 1,500 MW capacity each in the next five years. The Jindal group will also invest Rs 15,000 crore in pump storage facilities. Jindal said that the JSW Foundation has started a clean Kedarnath project under which the temple premises will be made free from plastic waste. The MD of the ITC group, Sanjeev Puri said that the company is planning to open four new hotels in Uttarakhand. He added that the company will set up an integrated pulp unit in the State with an estimated cost of Rs 4,000 crore. 

Yoga Guru and founder of Patanjali group Swami Ramdev exhorted the investors to invest in Uttarakhand. He said that he had nothing when he came to Uttarakhand and now has built a business empire worth thousands of crores of rupees. Ramdev promised that the Patanjali group will invest Rs 10,000 crore in Uttarakhand and will create ten thousand new employment opportunities. 

The CEO of Emaar India Kalyan Chakrabarti said that the company will invest Rs 5,000 crore in building townships in Uttarakhand. The founder of TVS Supply Chain Solutions, R Dinesh said that the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 12,000 crore with Uttarakhand government. The venture will create 7,000 employment opportunities, he said.
