A labourer was killed by a tiger near the Dhangarhi gate of Corbett national park here on Wednesday. The incident took place when a man who was part of a group working on road construction was attacked by a tiger at about 3 PM. Before the workers in panic could realise, the tiger carried away one of them to the jungle. The Forest department officials reached the site on being informed about the incident. The body of the labourer was found some distance away in the woods. The labourer killed by the tiger has been identified as Uttar Pradesh native Khalil (40) who was working under a contractor.
The Corbett deputy director Neeraj Sharma informed that the incident took place about 1.5 kilometres from the Dhangarhi gate. The labourers were working when a tiger attacked suddenly and carried Khalil away. He further informed that as per the regulations, ex-gratia will be provided to the next of kin of the labourer killed by the tiger.
