Three men were killed and one sustained injuries in a road accident in the Bahadrabad area of Haridwar district late on Sunday night when a car reportedly skidded near a bend and rammed into a truck on the national highway. The police could only save the man who was driving the car after reaching the spot as the others had already died, said the station house officer of Bahadrabad, Nitesh Sharma. He told The Pioneer that the victims aged between mid 20s and 30s were coming towards the district from Rewari district of Haryana on Sunday when their car passed through an intense bend and skidded so badly that it rammed into a truck on the highway. He said that the preliminary investigation shows that the truck driver had no fault in this accident. The victims were also allegedly drunk during the accident as per the investigation but nothing can be said for sure without getting a postmortem report, said the SHO. He said that the man driving the car was admitted to the hospital whose health was stable till Monday evening. The police also said that the place where the accident took place is allegedly a blind spot and there have been many accidents in the past as well. According to them, the bend there is quite intense and there are no lights installed there as well. They said that the police have sent written complaints to the officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) regarding these issues several times but no action is being taken by them in the matter. They said that most of the victims were probably responsible for their accidents in the said location but lack of facilities might also be a potential contributing factor for the accidents.
