The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will ensure camera installation near forest areas of Kuanwala and Harrawala to identify those who throw garbage and carry out other prohibited activities to take action against them as per the law. The Dehradun municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal said this on Sunday on the occasion of the cleanliness campaign conducted by MCD in association with fifty college students and a non-governmental organisation in Kuanwala and Harrawala areas under Swachchh  Survekshan 2023. The sanitation workers, students and the NGO collected the waste accumulated in roadside areas of Kuanwala and Harrawala. They also collected garbage from near the forest areas too. The dry garbage collected in the campaign was sent for recycling in the Harrawala cleanliness centre.

The commissioner said that the pollution and garbage on the said routes and near the forest areas have increased considerably. To prevent this practice and take action against the offenders, the MCD will arrange camera installation in these areas besides conducting regular patrolling with authorities concerned to ensure anti-social elements do not cause more pollution, said Goyal. According to him, these routes are the main road to the city but there is a considerable increase in garbage and pollution here. He said that MCD would take strict action against those who will be found to be guilty of causing pollution or any kind of illegal activity in these areas. He also appealed to the people to keep the city clean and help the MCD to get into the top 50 cleanest cities of the country under SS23.
