Three arrested for Kashipur double murder

The police arrested three accused for allegedly murdering two men in Udham Singh Nagar’s  Kashipur on February 29. The accused have been identified as Vivek Kumar and Garv Mehra were arrested late on Saturday and Deepak Kumar was arrested on Sunday. One accused is still absconding and will be nabbed soon, the Udham Singh Nagar senior superintendent of police Manjunath TC said on Sunday. He said that a man named Chaman Saini registered a complaint that he along with his friend Sumit was going towards his home. Sumit was then waiting for his brother Aakash at a trisection when a man Garv arrived on his bike and started abusing and hitting him. He fled the scene after he faced some strong resistance from Sumit and other people. Sumit continued to wait there for his brother. Garv returned with his three accomplices and started beating Sumit. Aakash also reached the spot along with his friend Ajay and intervened. Garv and his accomplices attacked Aakash and Ajay with sharp weapons and left them severely injured.   The SSP said that both injured were taken to the hospital where Aakash was declared brought dead. Ajay was referred to a higher centre but died on March 1 during the treatment. He said that the police started an investigation and arrested accused Garv and Vivek on Saturday along with the murder weapon and their bloodied clothes. The police arrested the third accused on Sunday on an informer’s tip. The police are investigating and looking for the fourth accused in Udham Singh Nagar and nearby districts. He will be nabbed soon, SSP added.
