Thousands of diyas to be lit at Har Ki Pauri by the pilgrim priests on the occasion of Dev Deepawali. This year eleven thousand diyas will be lit. The festival of Dev Deepawali, which is held in the holy month of Kartik, is being organized in Haridwar on Thursday. The festival is celebrated by the people with great pomp and show.

On the occasion of this festival, Lord Vishnu along with several other deities are worshipped by lighting diyas at Brahmakund Har Ki Pauri. This festival is celebrated every year. Mahant Ravindrapuri, President of Mansa Devi Temple Trust and President of Akhara Parishad, will also be mainly present in the event along with the pilgrimage priests. The local residents and devotees have reportedly been asked to light five diyas each at all the nearby Ganga ghats.
