While welcoming the decision of the court in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, the Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that anyone who is not satisfied with the court’s decision can approach the Uttarakhand High Court. The BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt welcomed the verdict stating that it has brought a sense of closure to the people of Uttarakhand. Further, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP national co-treasurer Naresh Bansal welcomed the judgment and stated that the verdict followed the complete judicial process and was based on evidence collected by the investigating agencies. He addressed the media at the party headquarters on Friday and said that the court sentenced the guilty to life imprisonment, rigorous imprisonment and monetary penalties under various sections. He added that while the decision must be respected as part of the Indian judicial system, legal options remain open to anyone who sees the need for further review. Bansal urged all political parties to avoid making irresponsible statements in the case. He stated that the judicial process was followed completely and added that the verdict should be accepted in the spirit of the law. The BJP State president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt also welcomed the verdict and said it brings a sense of closure to the people of Uttarakhand. He said that with strong prosecution and solid evidence, justice was delivered. He acknowledged that while no judgment can remove the pain of the victim’s family, the court’s order to imprison the three accused for life may help lessen their grief. Bhatt stated that the judgment took some time but it came after a full legal process and within a record period of less than three years. He also praised the investigating agencies for their swift action. He added that agencies used forensic and modern technologies to gather strong evidence. Bhatt called upon political parties, social organisations and all concerned individuals to treat the case with seriousness and sensitivity. He said that the judicial system has delivered its decision transparently and responsibly and all reactions must reflect the same level of responsibility.
