Bageshwar MLA Parvati Dass sworn in

Parvati Dass, the newly elected MLA from the Bageshwar Assembly constituency took the oath of office and secrecy on Saturday. The Vidhan Sabha speaker Ritu Khanduri administered the oath to Dass. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and other leaders were present on the occasion. The CM congratulated the newly sworn in MLA and expressed gratitude to the people of Bageshwar. He said that the people of Bageshwar have elected a woman candidate for the first time in the history of the constituency. Dhami said that Parvati Dass will carry forward the development works and projects initiated by the late Chandan Ram Dass. Cabinet ministers Prem Chand Agarwal, Saurabh Bahuguna, BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt and other leaders were present on the occasion.

 The by-election in the Bageshwar Assembly constituency was necessitated after the death of four time MLA and cabinet minister Chandan Ram Dass. The voting for the by-election was held on September 5. In the election, the ruling BJP gave the ticket to Parvati Dass, the widow of Chandan Ram Dass. She defeated her Congress party rival Basant Kumar by a margin of 2,405 votes in the election.
