BRO felicitates gallantry award winners

Under the aegis of Project Shivalik, 21 BRTF organised a felicitation programme at the Gauchar community hall to honour gallantry award winners of Chamoli as a part of the series of events to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence and celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The Garhwal MP and former CM Tirath Singh Rawat was the chief guest at the function also attended by the BRTF 21 commander colonel Manish Kapil. Vijay Singh (son) on behalf of Late Kedar Singh-SC(P) and Chandrakala (daughter in-law) on behalf of  Anand Mani- SC received the honour. 

Speaking on the occasion, Rawat lauded the efforts of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in maintenance of the roads in the State and the efforts of the BRO in keeping the roads open even in the high rainy and peak winter season. He also praised the efforts made by BRO for the rehabilitation work and making road and bridges for traffic during Reni and Sumna disaster in a time bound manner.  Rawat further extolled the heroic, brave and selfless service rendered by the gallantry awardees towards the nation. Similar activity was also organized on August 7 at Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pipalkoti to honour gallantry award winners. 

The event attended by Badrinath MLA Mahendra Bhatt saw three gallantry award recipients – nayab subedar Surendra Singh, lance naik Raghubeer Singh and major Preetam Singh Kunwar being felicitated by the MLA. Heema Devi on behalf of her husband Surendra Singh- SC, Rekha Devi on behalf of her late husband Raghubeer Singh-SC(P) and Hon Lt (retd) Narender Singh Kunwar, father of Maj Preetam Singh Kunwar- KC attended the event.
