The Mahant Indiresh hospital here has claimed that its team of cardiologists has given a new lease of life to a 74-year-old patient by treating him by the impella technique. The hospital further claims that the treatment via impella technique is currently available only at some hospitals of Delhi, NCR and abroad but now the heart patients of Uttarakhand and nearby areas can get treated by the technique in Dehradun.
The head of the hospital’s department of cardiology Dr Salil Garg said that the 74 -year-old retired army officer was suffering from heart related problems due to which the pumping in his heart had become slow. “In medical language, this disease is called severe heart dysfunction with coronary artery disorder which can be fatal. Medical specialists now use the ultramodern impella technique for treatment of heart diseases,’’ he said.
