The first ever book on India’s political cartography ‘We the People of the States of Bharat’ by Sanjeev Chopra, the former director of Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, was released by former director general of Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology, Rajendra Dhobal at  Natraj Publishers. ‘We, the People of the States of Bharat: The Making and Remaking of Internal Boundaries’ is a fascinating read about the multiple boundary adjustments for every State and Union Territory in India – from 1947 to the 75th year of independence.

The book is a quintessential story of how India continues to redefine itself, with a narrative on mapping State boundaries and a record of the contemporary political history of India through its geography.  Speaking on the occasion, Dobhal said that this book is a masterful work on boundaries and belonging. Chopra has presented a granular vision of India’s diversity in its cartographic details. His understanding of how imaginary lines make for citizen aspirations is very engaging, said Dobhal. The book is being made available to the residents of the State at a special price by arrangement with the publishers.
