Teacher held for raping 10-year-old girl

A Government school teacher accused of sexually assaulting a girl studying in class V in Champawat district was arrested on Wednesday. A First Information Report (FIR) was filed by the victim’s parents on Tuesday under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Reetha Sahib Police Station, alleging that a teacher in a primary school, Narendra Kumar had been molesting their daughter for the past three months. Champawat Circle Officer (CO) Naresh Chandra told The Pioneer, “We have arrested the accused; he will be produced in the court on Thursday. The victim’s medical examination has been conducted.” According to the complaint filed by the victim’s parents, Naresh Kumar (36) an assistant teacher, working in government primary school in Reetha Sahib, Champawat was sexually assaulting their daughter for the past three months while she was studying in the same school. The accused also allegedly threatened to kill her in case she attempted to tell anyone. After suffering consistent abuse at the hands of her teacher, the 10 year old girl finally shared details of the incident with her neighbour.
