State government failed monsoon test again: AAP

Tuesday, 27 June 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday claimed that heavily waterlogged roads and overflowing drains in various districts even before the proper arrival of the monsoon in the State shows that the preparations of the government and bodies concerned have failed the monsoon test once again.

The party’s spokesman Ravindra Anand said that various areas of Haridwar got waterlogged owing to heavy rainfall since late on Saturday night. He said that various parts of the provisional capital of the State Dehradun also remain severely affected by rain, especially those areas where the work under the Smart City projects are under construction. He said that the government was aware of the severity of the condition of roads but despite that, no strict action was taken regarding this matter. He said that it is quite disappointing how respective civic bodies and departments concerned failed to take appropriate preventive measures and make sufficient preparations required to prevent such occurrences that happen almost every year during this period, especially in Dehradun and Haridwar districts.

Anand said, “The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami claimed to have ordered the departments concerned to make required preparations ahead of monsoon but these all fell apart within two days when the State was still in the pre monsoon stage. The whole of Dehradun has turned into a huge drain because of the never-ending Smart City works. It is disappointing that no concrete action is being taken by the government against such irregularities occurring in various parts of the State.”
