SRHU signs MoU with Global Health Alliance

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU)  and the Global Health Alliance, United Kingdom during a virtual programme in the presence of chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Union minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Ashwini Kumar Choubey here on Wednesday. With the signing of this MoU, Global Health Alliance will provide quality training through various courses to medical staff especially the paramedical and nursing staff along with motorbike paramedic training.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that Uttarakhand will benefit considerably in the health sector with the signing of this MoU between the two institutions. Motorbike paramedics will be particularly useful in mountainous regions where they will be able to reach the spot and provide timely treatment to the patients. The skills of the medical and paramedical students here will also be enhanced through the courses designed by the Global Health Alliance. This in turn will also benefit the youth from the perspective of employment. Rawat further said that Dehradun is now emerging as a medical hub. He also stressed on the need for laying special focus on facilities for the treatment of cardiac disease and diabetes.

The SRHU vice chancellor Vijay Dhasmana informed about the activities of the university, stressing that top priority is being accorded to enhancing medical health facilities in Uttarakhand. This MoU will also help in enhancing the skills of the paramedical staff, he added.

British high commissioner in New Delhi, Jane Thompson, Dr Raje Narayan of Global Health Alliance, UNDP principal advisor in India, Rakesh Kumar, Uttarakhand’s health secretary Amit Singh Negi and SRHU registrar Dr Vinit Mehrotra were also among those present on the occasion.
