Russian woman beaten mercilessly in Rishikesh, admitted at AIIMS, accused arrested

A youth from Saharanpur was arrested from Nilkanth bypass road in Rishikesh on the charge of making life-threatening attack on a Russian woman. The foreigner, seriously injured in the attack, was rushed to hospital. It is learnt that police arrested the youth.  According to the Lachmanjhula police station officers, the incident happened when the 27-year-old Russian woman came out on the Nilkanth bypass road. Near Bhutnath temple, she met Anuj, a youth from Saharanpur. It is learnt from police sources that with the conversation on, Anuj started beating the Russian woman mercilessly. Police further said that he made a life-threatening  attack  on the foreigner. The passersby saw the incident and when they were arranging to send the Russian woman to hospital Anuj fled. The Russian was admitted to the Lachmanjhula government hospital. As her condition was found serious, she was referred to AIIMS Rishikesh. Senior police officers went to AIIMS and after obtaining information about Anuj, a police team arrested the youth from Lachmanjhula area. As the Russin woman had not lodged a case police registered a suo moto case and arrested Aunj under relevant sections.
