Next Char Dham Yatra to be challenging: Maharaj

Suggestions being sought from Health directorate & public

The coming Char Dham Yatra will be full of challenges. Considering this, suggestions are being sought from the Health directorate and the general public regarding the health check up of aged pilgrims, said the State’s Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj. He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the annual function of Shri Baba Kedar childrens’ hostel in Guptkashi on Sunday.

Stating that the coming Char Dham Yatra will be challenging, the minister said that this time 46.24 lakh people had undertaken the Char Dham Yatra which had provided a boost to the economy. The minister said that the State government is also making consistent efforts to encourage winter tourism. For this purpose, 12 pilgrimage sites each in Garhwal and Kumaon have been included in the Shaiv, Vaishnav and Shakt circuits developed by the government. Work on developing the Nagraja circuit has also been completed. Maharaj said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the construction of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line is being undertaken on war footing. A tour of the Union Railway minister to Shrinagar is proposed for ensuring adequate compensation to families affected by construction of the railway project. Soon the initiative to provide adequate compensation to those affected by the rail project will be started, added the minister.

He further said that public representatives from various villages of the Kalimath valley had informed him about the different problems being faced in the region. The minister assured that he will soon make attempts to resolve these issues. He also announced Rs 2.51 lakh for the all round development of students living in the hostel.

Presiding over the function, the Kedarnath MLA Shailarani Rawat appreciated the efforts made by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) especially for the youngsters left without support due to the disaster in the region. She also asked the Tourism minister to facilitate conduct of the pilgrimage to Madhmaheshwar and Tungnath on the lines of the pilgrimage to Kedarnath. Reconstruction work should be done at the Barahi temple and other temples damaged in the Kedarnath valley during the disaster and pilgrimage centres should be beautified, she further demanded.

The RSS Prant Seva Pramukh Pawan Kumar said that the sense of selfless service has been in the blood of not only the RSS but the entire Hindu community.
