The Special Task Force here has sought details from all the districts about gun licences which were transferred to Uttarakhand from other states after 2015. This action was taken following the bust of a fake gun licence gang by the STF. The accused was identified as Manoj from Premnagar, though he originally hails from Uttar Pradesh.

According to the senior superintendent of police (SSP) STF, Dehradun, Navneet Singh Bhullar, they had received inputs that fake gun licences from other states were being transferred to Dehradun. Following this, a team had been constituted to investigate the matter. So far, one accused has been arrested in the case.

As per the STF, the accused had paid Rs four lakh to get a fake gun licence. The investigation found that the accused had first registered his licence in Meerut by paying Rs four lakh and later had it transferred to Dehradun. During verification, the licence was found to be fake following which the action was taken. “Once all the details are received, a dedicated team will verify whether these licences were actually registered at the place from where they were transferred,” said the SSP, STF.

“If any licence is found to have been transferred to Uttarakhand using a fake no objection certificate (NOC), stern action will be taken,” he added.
