STF arrests four company owners for selling spurious medicines under branded names

PIONEEREDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested four company owners and plant heads in Dehradun for producing and selling spurious medicines under the names of branded pharmaceutical companies. They were also allegedly supplying spurious medicines to several government hospitals.

The arrested company owners were identified as Pradeep Gaud of Zentic Pharmaceuticals Private Limited, Shailendra Singh of BLBK Pharmaceutical Private Limited, Shishir Singh of Oxi Pharma Private Limited and Tejendra Kaur of Keron Life Science Private Limited. The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation in which 10 members of the network, including its mastermind, have been taken into custody so far, the senior superintendent of police of STF Navneet Singh Bhullar said.

He stated in a Press conference on Monday that the case began on June 1, 2025, when STF arrested Santosh Kumar with fake wrappers, outer boxes, labels and QR codes of reputed medicine companies in Dehradun’s Selaqui area. An FIR was registered and the investigation was transferred to STF for proper investigation. Later, six more accused, including Santosh Kumar, Naveen Bansal alias Akshay, Aditya Kala, Devi Dayal Gupta, Pankaj Sharma and Vijay Kumar Pandey were arrested, he said.

“The investigation revealed that four pharmaceutical companies, Keron Life Science Private Limited, BLBK Pharmaceutical Private Limited, Oxi Pharma Private Limited and Zentic Pharmaceuticals Private Limited, all based in Dehradun, sold large quantities of medicines without proper drug licenses to Beechem Biotech, a fake firm floated by accused Bansal. These medicines, supplied without strips, were later repackaged in branded company strips and sold in the market,” the SSP said.

He stated that the companies allegedly issued bills showing zero MRP to justify their supplies as hospital consignments, despite Bansal not having any official contract or permission to supply medicines to government hospitals. Between 2023 and 2025, Beechem Biotech repeatedly bought medicines illegally from these companies and distributed them through fake packaging, the SSP claimed.

He said that on these grounds, STF arrested four company heads Pradeep Gaud, Shailendra Singh, Shishir Singh and Tejendra Kaur. Further investigation is underway and the STF is gathering all possible details and links of the crimes of the accused in other states, the SSP added.
