The State is forecast to witness heavy rains during a three-day period starting on Sunday. The State Meteorological Centre has issued a red warning (take action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at few places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Sunday. The centre has also issued an alert (be prepared to take action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Bageshwar district. In addition to this a yellow alert (watch) has been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in rest of the districts of Uttarakhand. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of the State today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a generally cloudy sky. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur in parts of Dehradun. The maximum and minimum temperature are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Sunday.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State on Saturday. The State Meteorological Centre director Bikram Singh said that heavy to very heavy rain is likely in various districts of the State on June 29, 30 and July 1. He said that the intensity of the rainfall activity and the impact of the heavy rains is likely to be felt more on June 30 and July 1. He advised people to remain alert. Those in the low lying areas especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts and those living near rivers and water bodies should observe special care.
