Friday, 15 June 2018 | PNS | Dehradun– A state level workshop and blood donation camp were organised on the occasion of ‘World Blood Donation Day’ at press club here on Thursday. The programme was organised under the joint aegis of the Uttarakhand State AIDS Control Society (USACS), medical health and family welfare department, state blood transfusion committee and Uttaranchal Press Club. Addressing the programme the Inspector General (IG), Uttarakhand Police Sanjay Gunjiyal exhorted people to come forward for voluntary blood donation so that no death occurs due to lack of blood. He said that blood has no alternative and it cannot be artificially prepared so donation is the only option available to save life.  In the programme the organisers felicitated Anil Verma and Sandip Parwal who have donated blood 133 and 56 times respectively. The event was attended by the chairman of Red  cross society Ranjit Singh Verma, Director National Health Mission (NHM) Dr T K Pant, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun Dr S K Gupta, President of Uttarakhand Press club Bhupendra Kandari and others.
