State-level hockey competition inaugurated in Dehradun

The six-a-side State-level Hockey competition for under-18 boys was inaugurated at the Pavilion Ground on Monday. This event was organised by the District Sports Office (DSO) in Dehradun, with the support of the Sports Directorate of Uttarakhand and under the supervision of the District Administration. As per the officials, the Chief Guest, the vice president of the State Level Sports Council and minister of State Hemraj Bisht along with special guest, president of the District Hockey Association, Amritpal Singh addressed the players. During the inaugural matches, the first game featured Pauri Garhwal competing against Maharana Pratap Sports College of Dehradun, with Sports College securing a victory with a score of 8-2.

The second match featured Haridwar facing off against Dehradun ‘Green’, with Haridwar securing a victory of 6-2. In the third match, Champawat and Udhma Singh Nagar competed, resulting in a draw with both teams scoring one goal each, according to officials. Further, they informed that the fourth match saw Dehradun ‘Red’ take on Tehri Garhwal, with Dehradun ‘Red’ triumphing with a score of 10-1 to one. The fifth match was contested between Bageshwar and Uttarkashi, where Bageshwar emerged victorious with a score of 4 – 1. In the sixth match, Almora faced Nainital, and Nainital won decisively, with a score of 9-2. Lastly, the seventh match involved Pithoragarh and Tehri Garhwal, which ended in a tie, both teams scoring two goals each, they said.
