State Govt to provide Rs 12388.20 lakh aid to public transport operators

The State Government will spend Rs 12388.20 lakh from the chief minister relief fund for providing financial support for the livelihood of public transport operators which was affected due to Covid-curfew this year.

The State transport secretary Ranjit Sinha informed that the department has decided to provide the financial help of Rs 2,000 each to 1,03,235 registered public transport operators, conductors and cleaners across the State. The operators of all the public transport including maxi cabs, electric rickshaws, Vikrams, autorickshaws and buses will receive this financial aid for the next six months except the buses of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC).

The department will transfer this money to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through regional transport officers and district magistrates, stated Sinha. He said that a total of Rs 12388.20 lakh will be spent on this financial aid through the funds of the CM relief fund.
