Stalled promotions: Govt teachers threaten strike from July 5

 The Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS), the powerful association of government school lecturers has threatened to go on strike from July 5 on the issue of promotions of teachers. A decision in this regard was taken during a protest organised at the education directorate on Monday. 

Addressing the protesting teachers, the president of the RSS, Ram Singh Chauhan said that till date the teachers have only received assurances on the issue but now they have decided to wage a final war. The general secretary Ramesh Painyuli said that the process of promotions in the department is necessary but it has been delayed for years. He said that the stalling of the promotion process is a major blow to the interests of the teachers. Painyuli said that the teachers are now left with no option but to undertake a complete work boycott.

The patron of RSS Dinesh Nautiyal, vice president Rajkumar Chaudhary, joint secretary Jagdish Bisht, Paranay Bahuguna and the representatives of teachers from all the districts attended the protest.
