Sports dept to organise events to mark Int’l Olympic Day

The District Sports Office (DSO), Dehradun will hold selection trials for the State-level Under-17 Boys Hockey Competition at Pavilion Ground on June 20. Besides, to mark the International Olympic Day, the DSO Haldwani under the guidance of the Sports Directorate, Uttarakhand, Dehradun and district administration of Nainital, will host the State-level Under-17 Boys Hockey Competition from June 23 to 25 at the Indira Gandhi International Sports Complex at Gaulapar.
DSO Dehradun will organise the district-level selection trials on June 20 commencing at 4 PM at Pavilion Ground in Dehradun. It is mandatory for participants to bring a passport-sized photo, Aadhar card and a permanent residence certificate, DSO officials said.
To recall, marking the International Olympic Day, the District Sports Office in Dehradun will organise various competitions from June 20 to 23, including hockey competitions for both open boys and girls at Pavilion Ground. Besides, handball, football, volleyball and judo will also be played.
The handball and football competitions are for under-15 boys while volleyball will be open to all boys and girls and the judo will be for under-18 boys and girls. The handball and football matches will be played at Pavilion Ground while volleyball will be played at Parade Ground and judo competitions at the multipurpose hall of Parade Ground.
A commemorative rally to mark the International Olympic Day slated on June 23 was organized in the Pavilion Ground on Thursday.
