The southwest monsoon advanced in Uttarakhand on Friday. As per the State meteorological centre, the northern limit of monsoon passed through Jaipur, Agra, Rampur, Dehradun, Shimla, Manali on Friday.
The centre has issued a warning regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall with very intense to extremely intense spells likely at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat, Tehri and Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri districts on Saturday.
Further light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms is likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of Uttarakhand. Apart from this, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense spells of rain with gusty winds ( 40 to 50 kmph) are very likely isolated places in all the districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness partly to generally cloudy skies with few spells of rain/thunderstorms likely to occur of which one to two spells of may be intense showers in some areas.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Friday were 33.7 degrees Celsius and 23.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 31.1 degrees Celsius and 26.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.9 degrees Celsius and 15.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25 degrees Celsius and 18.1 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rainfall was recorded in various parts of the State with 25 millimetres in Thalisain, 17 millimetres in Ranikhet, 7.5 millimetres in Jollygrant and 6.0 millimetres in Kalsi.
